YMCA Camp Kitaki Staff 2006
All summer positions require living on site at Camp Kitaki. Dates of employment are late May through mid August. All staff members live in camper cabins during employment. We require a sincere interest in youth and the ability to work with others in a group effort. All jobs require applicants to be of college age unless otherwise stated. CPR and First Aid certifications are helpful for all positions. All staff is expected to model the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility and to commit themselves to strengthening themselves and others in spirit, mind, and body.

We accept applications for summer staff year-round. Interviews are conducted based on qualified applicants and begin around January. Positions are filled first come first serve, starting in January before summer with qualified applicants completing the application and interview process. Boys and Girls Cabin Counselors

Live in cabins with 8-10 youth. Guide them to develop and grow. Participate with campers in activity areas. Be a positive role model, sincere, and enjoy spending time with youth and in the outdoors.

Health Specialist

Carry out health and safety plan under the direction of Camp Nurse. Treat minor ailments and injuries. Organize and distribute camper medications. Requires CPR and First Aid certification.

Head Wrangler

Care for 50 horses and maintain our 44-stall barn. Teach basic to advanced Western horsemanship in our popular Ranch Camp program. Lead trail rides. Organize and supervise wranglers. Work with kids and horses to achieve the goals of our program.

Ropes Director

Organize and facilitate our multi-element Challenge Course; High Ropes Course, Jungleland Adventure Course, Initiatives Course, Zipline, Team Wall, and Climbing/Rappelling Tower. Maintain equipment and records, schedule and supervise facilitators. Requires an adventurous and energetic leader.

Facilitate Challenge Course activities; High Ropes Course, Zip Line, Initiatives Course, Jungleland Adventure course, Team Wall, and Climbing/Rappelling Tower. Maintain equipment and records. Requires adventurous and energetic leaders.

Pool Director

Responsible for the care and operation of our camp pool with double-tube slide, maintenance of records, and lifeguarding. Supervise aquatic staff at pool. Lifeguard CPR, and First Aid certification are required. CPO license a plus.

Waterfront Director

Supervise Lake operations and activities, lifeguard, instruct campers, maintain and supervise use of lake equipment. Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid certification required.

Aquatic Staff

Lifeguard at our Pool or Lake. Supervise aquatics activities including water slide, lake swing, canoes and paddleboats. Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid certification required.

Nature Director

Share a love of outdoors with children. Be responsible for setup and upkeep of Nature Center; organization and teaching of outdoor awareness program to campers in a wooded area.

Crafts Director & Assistant Crafts Staff

Express your creativity by teaching campers various camp and nature crafts and projects. Develop age-appropriate projects for Campers 7-17. Organize area, inventory, and keep accurate records.

Target Range Director

Teach, supervise, and direct Rifle range, Archery range and Archery field course with safety as the top priority. Maintain course and equipment in excellent condition.

Video Production

Explore camp with our camera and produce a weekly video with digital editing technology. Photograph camp activities and participants for weekly photo CD. Must be motivated, organized, and creative. Photography, video, and computer experience a plus.

Store Manager

Work with other staff and teen volunteers to operate Camp Store, manage inventory, market products, order supplies weekly, keep accurate computer records, and assist campers with accounts and purchases.

Office Coordinator

Coordinate camp communication including mail, phone calls, and e-mail. Present quality first impression of camp to parents and public. Requires excellent customer service skills

#

Assistant Cooks

Assist Food Service Manager with food preparations, distribution and occasional meal planning in our well-stocked, modern kitchen.

Program Assistant

Assist Program Director with organization, scheduling and supervision of camp activities. Distribute supplies to program areas and communicate effectively with staff. Assist with trips and transportation (Valid drivers license required). Previous experience with camp programming preferred, computer experience a plus.
