School's out. So what are you waiting for? Get out of the house and come to the Y. Play sports, join a club, meet new friends - whatever. The bottom line: It's a cool place to chill out.
YMCA After School STARS ProgramThe Lincoln YMCA After school STARS (Students Together After School Reaching Success) program will be held this fall at Lux Middle School and Scott Middle School. The participants will benefit from a safe place to stay after school that includes a nutritious snack, academic support, character and asset development, organized activities and themed clubs. Clubs will be offered Monday through Friday, come everyday or just a couple days a week. Registration for clubs is on a first come/ first served basis. If you would like more information about the program or about program assistance, contact Kim Pair at 323-6408 or kpair@ymcalincoln.org.Lefler Community Learning CenterThe Lincoln YMCA supports and is the lead agency for the Community Learning Center (CLC) at Lefler Middle School.YMCA CLCs provide a delivery system that uses the local school as the hub of service. These centers provide safe, supervised before and after school programs and summer enrichment programs, and many other supportive services, primarily for youth. YMCA CLCs are administered by the Downtown Branch YMCA.
Teen Fitness and Membership OpportunitiesThe Lincoln YMCA has programs developed for teens to help them incorporate fitness into their everyday lives. The Cooper YMCA has added a youth gym. All three of the branches have a "quick fit" studio which allows teens a time to get a good introduction to working out, as well as offer Youth Weight training classes to help get teens started with their future workouts by teaching them the correct mechanics, weight room etiquette, safe technique, and how to create a balanced workout routine.The Lincoln Y also offers a youth membership just for kids under age 18. Its a perfect way to enjoy the pool, stay in shape, and train during the off season for your favorite sport! Click here for more information on a youth membership! Teen Night at the Downtown YMCAThe last Saturday of the month has been reserved exclusively for teens from 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. All 6th-9th graders are welcome. You need not be a member to participate. All activities are supervisedby adults & staff. For more information about teen night call 434-9260. Youth SportsThe YMCA Youth Sports Branch has a wide variety of activities and job opportunities for Teens in a competitive or recreational sports setting. This is a great experience for 13-16 year olds who are looking into becoming lifeguards or swim instructors. These people must be reliable, fundamentally sound swimmers and have a desire to help children. This is a volunteer position, some training will be provided. If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a swim instructor aide, contact the facility branch closest to you for more information.Volunteer OpportunitiesLooking for CI hours, a way to meet new people, or a chance to do something good for the community? Cooper YMCA Game RoomCheck out the game room. We've added a pool table, a ping pong table and wireless internet. There are also two computers with internet access available for your use, board games, video games, two TV's-including one flat panel LCD TV, and other supervised activities available after school.
