ENERGY Fitness Program at the YMCA of Lincoln

Physical fitness is an important part of youth development. Group fitness is an excellent opportunity for youth to increase their fitness levels and try new fitness activities in a safe, nurturing environment.

 

Who can participate?

Youth ages 6-13 years old are invited to Group Fitness. Before joining the group classes, families must complete online registration.

When and where are the classes?

January 4 - March 6, 2022

Cooper YMCA | 6:30-7:30pm on Tuesdays

Copple Family YMCA | 10:00-11:00am on Saturdays

Fallbrook YMCA | 5:00-6:00pm on Tuesdays

Northeast YMCA | 7:00-8:00pm on Tuesdays

Do we have to pay for the ENERGY Fitness classes

Y Members $40 | Community Members $80

What can I expect in an ENERGY Fitness class?

ENERGY Fitness Classes are led by trained YMCA group fitness instructors to provide a safe, positive, and effective program for all participants. Classes are structured with Functional Fitness activities and Active Play activities. All activities have been tested and have youth approval!

What do parents do while their child is in class?

Parents/Guardians of participants can actively participate in class at the YMCA. We encourage parents/guardians to stay on the facility grounds during the fitness class.

What about siblings, can they participate?

Only children ages 6-13 years old who are registered can participate. Child Watch can be utilized for families who have siblings who are under the age of 6, if available at each branch. Check with the Front Desk for Child Watch hours. Youth over age 12 can enroll in the Teen Fitness Training program. Check with the Front Desk for registration information.

What should a participant wear to class?

Closed-toe tennis shoes. Comfortable pants or shorts that are flexible and easy to move in.

What beverages are allowed in class?

Only water is allowed during group fitness. Food, sports drinks, juices or sodas are not allowed and if brought to class, participants will be asked to throw it away

Will ENERGY Fitness Class be cancelled during severe weather?

It’s very rare that classes or youth programs are cancelled. Feel free to call the facility to confirm that class is still on.

What are some other general expectations and guidelines?
  • We strive for a positive, effective fitness class. Therefore, electronics (cell phones or other devices) are not allowed during group fitness.
  • Participants are encouraged to attend all classes at registered YMCA location.
  • Participants are expected to be respectful and participate. Behavior problems will be documented and shared with the parents.
  • Success in the ENERGY Fitness class depends on the child’s attitude and willingness to follow instructions. The instructors are trained to keep class fun and engaging.
  • Parents should promote positive behavior with their child/children and communicate with the instructor if the child needs assistance with their behavior. Parents are welcome and encouraged to participate if and when the child needs additional behavioral support.
