Halfsy Training

Learn how to run a half marathon or how to run a faster race. This training has been created to help participants train to participate in The Good Life Halfsy on Sunday, November 1, 2020, but is open to anyone. Run with participants at your fitness level, this training is designed for all runners. You will receive a training schedule and individual help. This is a positive and encouraging group to train with. Class sessions will include topics on the aspects of nutritional, physical and mental training for the half marathon.

 

Session Dates: 2021 dates are TBA.

Session Capacity: Training will be limited to 50 participants. Please register early.

Age Requirements: Must be 18 years old to register for this class unless approved by Health & Wellness Director.

Days: Thursdays - 6:30 pm class session followed by group run | Sundays - 8:00 am group long run session

Fees: Lincoln Y Members: $55 | Non-members: $90 

Instructor: Ann Ringlein and members of The Lincoln Running Company Staff will guide you through the Halfsy Training in a positive, energetic way. Not only will you enjoy finishing a half marathon, you will enjoy the process! Ann has had many experiences with distance runners of all levels and will share her knowledge with beginners as well as advanced runners. Ann is the manager of the Lincoln Running Company and has been a competitive runner for over 30 years. She was an Assistant Cross Country and Tract Coach at Nebraska Wesleyan University for 20 years.

Refund Policy: A requested refund 3 business days prior to the start day of any activity/ class will be issued at 100% credit.  A requested refund after this time period will not be issued for any reason, including but not limited to vacation, illness, injury, other activities, etc.

Marathon Preparedness Class

Prepare Together! This class is designed for the beginner or returning runner. It will help you develop the running base needed to participate in the YMCA Marathon Training Class that begins in January. We will help you get connected with other runners at your level and pace and introduce you to the love of running. Instructor sessions before each run will cover basic running topics, motivate you to do your best and answer all of your questions to help you meet your goals.

Marathon Training

We offer sessions to help participants develop a running base, learn how to run a full or half marathon, and/or run at a faster pace. Training with the Y means a positive, energetic environment where participants make friends and training partners for life.

  • It is recommended that you have a base of 10-15 miles/week during November and December
  • Professional speakers will discuss topics pertaining to distance running (Thursday nights)

About the Instructor

Ann is the manager of the Lincoln Running Company and has been a competitive runner for over 35 years. She was the Assistant Cross Country and Track Coach at Nebraska Wesleyan University for over 20 years.

Marathon Training - Saturday Long Runs

This supported long run session is for individuals training for a half or full marathon or running for fitness. The run is in conjunction with our YMCA Marathon Training and is led by Ann Ringlein. Ann will provide written Saturday schedules based on your running goal and training routes will be led each week. Water and fuel will be provided along with social support from peers along the route.
