Five years ago I joined the Y at the Cooper location. My reason for joining was to lose weight and train for a half marathon. I chose the Y because of the included childcare and programs available for the entire family.

During the first five months of working out regularly and eating well, I lost 30 pounds and completed the half. I kept going because I was making friends and seeing changes in myself. Since then I have completed six more half marathons and kept the weight off that I lost. I started lifting weights which is something I never thought I would do. I'm excited to see what the next five years will bring!
