Good nutrition is key to strong, sustainable wellness. The Y offers three Nutrition Service options, a free orientation to kick start your wellness journey, a consultation to look more in-depth at your needs and a more substantial program for those who would like more step-by-step support and information.

Nutrition Orientation

This is a one-time introductory nutrition session provided for all YMCA Members.

During the session, a Nutrition Specialist will explain the benefits of a healthy diet, how to properly record your food intake and may suggest reputable websites for continued healthy nutrition help. The Specialist may answer some nutrition questions and will explain our nutrition service options.

Sessions are 30 minutes long.

Nutrition Consultation

A YMCA Nutrition Specialist will contact you to schedule your 1-hour, one-on-one consultation.

Meet with a YMCA Nutrition Specialist for your dietary needs. This consultation will include a 3-day food intake review, discuss dietary recommendations including calorie range, carbohydrate, protein and fat allowances, answer questions regarding your dietary habits and provide material specific to your dietary goals.

Complete the Nutrition Registration and 3-Day Food Intake Log on MyFitnessPal.com. Return the registration and log with payment to the YMCA Front Desk. A Nutrition Specialist will contact you to set up a consultation. 

Fees:

Y Member: $20 for initial consultation—$10 for each follow-up consultation 
Y Non-Member: $40 for initial consultation—$20 for each follow-up consultation

Complete the registration and 3-Day Food Intake Log on MyFitnessPal.com to meet one-on-one with a YMCA Registered Dietician for 1 hour.

Meet with a YMCA Registered Dietician for a nutrition analysis and assistance with your dietary needs pertaining to diseases such as diabetes, thyroid, high blood pressure, etc. This appointment includes a computerized dietary recall evaluation, disease-related food requirements, special diet needs, and assistance with meal planning. 

Return the registration and 3-Day Food Intake Log with payment to the YMCA Front Desk. A Registered Dietician will contact you to set up your session. 

Fees:

Y Member              $30 for initial consultation, $15 for follow-up consultations 
Y NonMember        $60 for initial consultation, $30 for follow-up consultations

Ashley Larson

Ashley grew up in Nebraska and graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a degree in Nutrition. After completion of her dietetic internship, she received her Master's Degree from Texas Women's University in Houston. She became a Registered Dietitian in 2007 and loves educating people about nutrition to help them with their weight loss and health goals. She currently works full-time at Bryan Health in the bariatric clinic. "I love helping with the Y-Lose It groups here at the YMCA and providing nutrition consultations. I am also a cycling instructor and love teaching classes to help get people excited to exercise!" said Ashley. Her her spare time, Ashley loves to run and has completed 20 half-marathons. She looks forward to meeting new people here at the Y and hopes she can help you get started in the right direction to eat healthier.

Samantha Beaubier

Samantha is a Registered Dietitian, Licensed Medical Nutrition Therapist, and has been a AFAA-certified group exercise instructor for 17 years. Her specialties are nutrition, cardio and strength interval-style workouts, group and personal training. She enjoys running and  spending time with friends and family, including three children. She enjoys "working out not only for my health but also for my sanity." Her exercise philosophy is to "surround yourself with those that better you, challenge you and are inspired by you."

Jen BeresJen Beres

Jen is currently an Exercise & Health Science student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She is CPR, AED and First Aid certified. Her specialties are in nutrition and strength training. Jen personally follows a steady-state cardio routine by practicing strength training 5x/week. Her exercise philosophy is to "Workout to feel good; not because you have to! Find an exercise that is fun to you!"

Alissa Lorchick

Alissa is a registered dietitian and licensed medical nutrition therapist. She graduated from UNL and has been a dietitian since 2008. She has worked in many areas including cardiology, diabetes, and dialysis, but weight management is her favorite. She loves seeing the progress her clients have made. Her nutition philosophy is "every bite you put into your mouth is either fighting disease or feeding it--choose wisely!"
