Executive Director, Cooper YMCA
What other roles/positions have you held at the Y?
Previously, I served as Executive Director of the Fallbrook YMCA, Executive Director of the Northeast YMCA, and as a Program Director in the Youth Sports Branch.
What initially drew you to the Y?
A couple of things drew me to the Y initially. One was the fact that the Youth Sports role matched one of my college majors - Sport Management. The other (and biggest factor) was the alignment with my passion, skills, and background in soccer.
What's the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is observing the connections and communities that the Y creates, both formal and informal. Our programs and spaces do this by bringing people together and fostering positive interactions. Every day I am in awe of the powerful, long-lasting impact environments like ours have on people at all stages of life.
What's one of your favorite memories working at the Y?
There are so many good memories! A favorite is the year we had a huge snowstorm on day two of the MIT Basketball Tournament. 300+ teams at six different sites across Lincoln! Todd Johnson and I split the city in half and delivered medals, money, and other supplies all day. It was a fun, chaotic day!
What’s a fun fact about yourself or something most people don’t know about you?
As a 9-year-old, I moved, with my family, to Lincoln after 6.5 years in Clemson, SC. When we first arrived, I spoke with a southern accent. As anyone who has spoken with me recently can tell, that has faded!
