What initially drew you to the Y?
A couple of things drew me to the Y initially. One was the fact that the Youth Sports role matched one of my college majors - Sport Management. The other (and biggest factor) was the alignment with my passion, skills, and background in soccer.
What other roles/positions have you held at the Y?
Previously, I served as Executive Director of the Fallbrook YMCA, Executive Director of the Northeast YMCA, and as a Program Director in the Youth Sports Branch.
What's the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is observing the connections and communities that the Y creates, both formal and informal. Our programs and spaces do this by bringing people together and fostering positive interactions. Every day I am in awe of the powerful, long-lasting impact environments like ours have on people at all stages of life.
What's one of your favorite memories working at the Y?
There are so many good memories! A favorite is the year we had a huge snowstorm on day two of the MIT Basketball Tournament [with] 300+ teams at six different sites across Lincoln! Todd Johnson and I split the city in half and delivered medals, money, and other supplies all day. It was a fun, chaotic day!
What’s a fun fact about yourself or something most people don’t know about you?
As a 9-year-old, I moved with my family to Lincoln after 6.5 years in Clemson, South Carolina. When we first arrived, I spoke with a southern accent. As anyone who has spoken with me recently can tell, that has faded!
