Kindergarten and 1st Grade | Micro Basketball is a great way to introduce your Kindergarten and 1st grader to the sport of basketball. With coaches focusing on low pressure development 1st Grade during a seven-week season, players will participate in 25-minute practices followed by 24-minute games each week, and Kindergarten during a five-week season, players will participate in 25-minute practices followed by 24-minute games each week.

League Description

Micro Basketball is a great way to introduce your Kindergarten and 1st grader to the sport of basketball. Kindergarten: The players will play 3 vs. 3 and rules will be modified. Teams are formed based on school, and grade.

1st Grade: The players will play 5 vs. 5 and rules will be modified. Teams are formed based on school, and grade.

Registration Information

Registration for the YMCA Winter Kindergarten Micro Basketball League is now available.

Registration Deadline: January 19

Late Registration Period: After January 20  (The fee will be an additional $25 after the registration deadline) (Teams are made after the registration deadline so no guarantees on team placement.)

Registration for the YMCA Winter 1st Grade Micro Basketball League is complete.

Game Days

Kindergarten Micro Basketball League

5 weeks will be on Saturdays or Sundays. 

Boys will be played on Saturdays on February 7, 14, 21, 28 and March 7. 

Girls will be played on Sundays on February 8, 15, 22, and March 1 and 8. 

 

1st Grade Micro Basketball League

7 Games will be on Saturdays or Sundays on December 6/7, 13/14, January 10/11, 17/18, 24/25, 31/ February 1, February 7/8, 14/15. 

 

Game Locations

Lincoln Public Schools facilities (specific sites to be determined).

 

Uniforms

A reversible over-the-shoulder navy-white mesh jersey will be required. The jersey will be used each year for YMCA Micro and Recreational Basketball. Cost is $15. Players who have a YMCA Basketball jersey from previous seasons can continue to wear it. Jersey's can be purchased in the Youth Sports office during office hours of Monday through Friday 9:00am to 4:00pm.

Other Equipment

Jewelry is not allowed to be worn during YMCA Youth Sports activities. This includes earrings (earrings cannot be taped). No hard casts/splints are allowed during matches/games.
